Over and Over and Over
Man oh man it has been a busy Christmas and New Years period. Not only did I get the opportunity to have some serious South Island time - in Wanaka, so beautiful - I was working on shoots galore for a new project I am very excited about! Pulp Magazine, as you may remember, liquidated over a year ago, but it has just been picked up by a couple of journalists who are giving it a second life, and they kindly asked me to come on board as fashion editor. So I have been working on shoots for that and I can show you a snippet of each. The first (new) issue is out at the beginning of February and we are really excited about it!

Shoot: Tiny Spark
This is a shoot that I just did with Tash Hopkins a photographer I hadn't worked with before but who is quite brilliant. We shot it out in West Auckland with international model Kelvin and we were simply trying to channel her youthful, quiet-yet-quirky personality. The last shot is my favourite because I think we totally got there. Head over here for the full shoot.

Shoot: K U R T
So things have been so busy around here of late I haven't had a chance to post anything in between the teaser for this and the real deal, but here it is. I am so pumped with this shoot; I was sort of trying to channel the grunge era (it is the twentieth anniversary of Nevermind and Ten) by envisaging shorts over pants, Kurt Cobain's trademark white sunnies and Courtney Love's pink babydoll dresses in the 21st Century. Hopefully the correlation's there!

Shoot: K U R T
Just had to share an out take of a shoot I did with the amazing Sara Orme the other day. It's sort of a stylized highlighter pink take on the life and time of Kurt and Courtney.

Shoot Previews: Sweet Home Alabama + Kurt
I am so excited with a couple of shoots we've got coming up on Always Sometimes Anytime soon. The first I shot with a photographer I hadn't worked with before and she was fantastic. Her name is Tash Hopkins, you can check out her work over here; it's fantastic to meet a kindred spirit and form a new creative partnership, and this is exactly what happened when we trucked out to West Auckland with Russian model Kelvin who is over in our part of the world for a year or so. Here's a sneak peek of the shoot, can't wait to show you the rest!
Kelvin was so awesome I recruited her again for a little editorial with Sara Orme. I was trying to find a balance between nineties grunge influences, masculine tailoring, bright colours and layering and really push myself to do more interesting work and more unique work. Again, am really looking forward to seeing the snaps, but below are some of my influences.

Editorial: How Do You Solve a Problem like Zooey Deschanel?
In my ongoing weekly column for Naturally Spirited I discussed the relative merits of the typecast role known as Manic Dream Pixie Girl. Zooey Deschanel is the leader of this army of cute and quirk and she must be stopped. Head over here to read it in full.
Shoot: Preview
I'm really excited about working with Tash Hopkins next week on an outdoor shoot that evokes our early settle immigrant history and local written work from the likes of Katherine Mansfield. Here is our mood board, results as they become available!
